«We "back up" crosswise and are secure!»
Cross-backup to two different locations usually protects well in the event of natural hazards or the failure of a location’s infrastructure.
Here too, however, it is advisable to protect the backups against ransomware. With a service provider, the second location can be taken out of service if necessary. If the service provider also stores the data in read-only mode, you kill three flies with one strike:
- Location independence
- Compliance, as the service is provided by an outsider
- Ransomware protection
