Cloud means cloud, but also haze or cloudy veil. And that describes the elusive nature of the cloud very aptly: it floats somewhere, not exactly localisable, not delimitable, not clear, not solid, diffuse, intangible. These attributes are also close to reality: the fact is that, according to all cloud contracts, you have no influence on where exactly and how your “outsourcer” (as this service used to be called) holds your data. And you don’t really know what else they might do with it at the end of the day.
