Why won't my cloud provider let me access the hypervisor for backup?
This question has been asked several times in recent months. The reasons are wide-ranging.
Mainly, though, if you have access to the hypervisor, you can influence all the VMs running on it – even the VMs of other cloud customers.
This is an absolute no-go, so the cloud provider will prevent this access. Backups in the cloud cannot normally be created via the hypervisor.
As a good alternative, a client/agent backup can be implemented easily, a little more effort, but it works perfectly well.
For this purpose, many customers use our COMBO or COMBO3 product; as an alternative, our VEEAM-AGENT@MOUNT10 also works impeccably.
