Swiss Fort Knox: known as Europe’s safest data center
Swiss Fort Knox: safe and well protected
Swiss Fort Knox is located in former military bunkers of the Swiss Army. The buildings have an extremely sturdy structural design which makes them especially safe and resistant to both military and civilian threats. Swiss Fort Knox is self-sufficient. Its interior climate can be controlled independently of the outside world. It is subject to restrictive access control: sensitive areas may only be entered by select employees.
Data center: high security standards
MOUNT10’s data center is in operation 24/7. It is constantly monitored by a dual operation center. All operational processes are subjected to the dual control principle. Manifold network and IT protective measures reduce the possible risks to an absolute minimum. The facility is guarded by video surveillance, with fire monitoring in place round the clock.
Safe data transmission
The two Swiss Fort Knox I and Swiss Fort Knox II data centers are connected to one another by a dedicated fibre-optic link. The advantage here is that this connection is exclusively used by MOUNT10, guaranteeing flexible and independent data transfer.
Our partner: SIAG Secure Infostore Ltd.
SIAG Secure Infostore Ltd. runs our two Swiss Fort Knox facilities. As operator of the data centres, the company based in Zug in Switzerland is certified according to ISO 27001. The company invests a vast amount in the security of Swiss Fort Knox, making it the safest data center in Europe.
How safe is Swiss Fort Knox?
Swiss Fort Knox is an underground data centre with several locations in the Swiss Alps. A unique security concept provides sensitive data with maximum safety.

Sensitive data is also well stored deep in the Alps. Swiss Fort Knox is well protected and guarded round the clock. Why not see for yourself?
HIGHEST POSSIBLE PROTECTION AGAINST NSA AND PRISM:
Protection against data snooping
Since learning of the scale of the surveillance of electronic data and communications by the US National Security Agency (NSA), public awareness of data protection issues has increased. These include, for example, the encryption of data, contractually regulated availabilities and, specifically, the place where data is stored.
Since 2004, MOUNT10 has based its services without compromise on various tactics that provide maximum protection against the methods deployed by the US National Security Agency and its PRISM surveillance software:
- Data storage in Switzerland (www.swissfortknox.ch)
- Encoding of data using the 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)
- Backdoors blocked by security mechanisms: you receive a personal encryption key unknown to MOUNT10
- Redundant data storage and contractual availability of at least 99.7%
- Compliance with legal requirements governing backups under Swiss law, guaranteed by the necessary certification and reports
Nevertheless, our service – not least thanks to our free support – enjoys the reputation among customers of being above all “simple”. We are happy to guarantee a flawless backup process through daily backup checks (incoming encrypted data). As a Swiss company (privately owned), we are committed to your information security.
